
Jens Wendelboe is a trombonist, composer, arranger, conductor and instructor who resides in Wilton, CT
Jens holds a Master in Composition and Film Scoring form Manhattan School of Music, a Bachelors Degree in Classical Trombone from the Royal Academy of Music in Oslo, Norway, and has studied individually with Don Sebesky (Film Score), Dennis Wick (Trombone), Michael Gibbs (Composition), Ed Green (Film Score),
Bill Watrous (Trombone) and Arild Jensen (Trombone).
Jens has received numerous awards and recognition including the Norwegian Association for Popular Authors for Creating 35 original jazz tunes into iReal Pro playlist in 2017; The Norwegian Composers Fund for composing a 1 hour concert for Brass Quintet and Vocal in 2016; American Music Center (AMC) award for recorded arrangements of US Jazz composers in 2009; The “Lys Music Composition Contest” 2nd Prize for Jazz Orchestrata, Belgium in 2003; Norwegian Composers Foundation, Scholarship in 1986, 1993, 1997, 1998, 1999. Scholarship to write a symphony in 2000-2002, and a Brass Quintet in 2016; Norwegian Fund for Performing Artist, stipends in 1990,1996,1999; TONO stipends in 1990, 1996, 2010; Norwegian Association for Popular Authors Prize of the Year for Best Composition, 1982, 1986 and 1996. Barga Jazz ’92, 2nd Prize, International Arranging & Composition competition for Jazz Orchestra., Italy; Danish Broadcasting Orchestra., Denmark Radio Cup, 1988 & 1989 for original classical compositions.
